In fall, the whole 8th grade class goes on an Outdoor Education trip to Yosemite to experience learning in a different way. This year’s 8th Grade Outdoor Ed trip to Yosemite National Park is a five-day trip (October 18 - 22) and includes four nights in our BHS own corner of Curry Village. While there, students have the opportunity to hike, rock scramble, investigate alpine ecosystems, learn ecology, geology, and stewardship of the earth first hand, and get to know their classmates better through team-building activities and shared mealtimes.
We have found here at Berkeley Hall that the experience is much more than outdoor learning. This trip promises to hold lifelong memories and build friendships on which to launch an outstanding 8th grade experience.
The educational program is led by instructors from
Nature Bridge, who are highly trained and do a fabulous job of introducing young people to Yosemite. Four or more Berkeley Hall teachers will chaperone this trip.
To prepare for this trip, parents fill out two (2) permission forms - one for BHS in Cooper's Cave and one for Nature Bridge linked below. Be sure to stick to the packing list provided below. To get all your questions answered, it is important to attend our informational Zoom meeting in September.
Nature Bridge, our outdoor education partner for the 8th grade Yosemite Trip announced that all participants must now be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to participate this fall. This requirement is a directive from Yosemite National Park.
This means 8th graders must be fully vaccinated (which is 2 weeks past the second Pfizer shot), by October 18 in order to participate. If your child is not fully vaccinated or has not begun the vaccination process, you would need to start that process immediately. If your child is fully vaccinated against COVID-19, please send the vaccination record to
admissions@berkeleyhall.org. A limited threshold of medical and religious exemptions will be accepted. Contact the front office for exemption forms.

Berkeley Hall students and teachers will be in a separate program from other groups and students must adhere to strict COVID-19 protocols.
