Physical Education

As part of our holistic, balanced, and comprehensive curriculum, Berkeley Hall students enjoy physical education four to five times a week on our extensive athletic fields, basketball and tennis courts, and in our swimming pool. Our P.E. teachers regularly collaborate to identify and analyze individual components of athletics. Students are taught to study and evaluate videos of themselves running, kicking, and throwing in order to improve their athletic performance.

Our curriculum includes a variety of traditional team sports as well as individual sports and fitness activities. Flag football, baseball, softball, basketball, volleyball, track, and soccer are taught along with swimming and water safety. Equally as important, Berkeley Hall students learn about the importance and essentials of physical fitness, nutrition, and sportsmanship. All of this is carried out in a learning environment in which students are made to feel comfortable, safe, nurtured, encouraged to try new activities, and guided to discover their own strengths and capabilities.

Berkeley Hall students compete in interscholastic team sports beginning in the fourth grade. Intermediate and junior high students also compete in track.
Located in Los Angeles, CA, Berkeley Hall School is a private, coeducational school for students in preschool through grade 8. Rigorous academics in a supportive atmosphere and grounded character development allow students to become fearless scholars and conscientious citizens - gain a love of learning, leadership with social responsibility, creativity with moral integrity, and self-esteem with compassion for others and the environment.
